We perform sleep studies for children 21 months and older.
Your child’s doctor or our sleep specialists may recommend a sleep study if your child:
These signs don’t always mean a sleep disorder, but a sleep study can help find out what is going on.
Overnight studies run seven nights a week, and families usually arrive around 7:00 PM. A sleep technologist places small sensors on your child’s head, face, chest and legs using gentle adhesive and soft belts—there are no needles. The sensors record breathing, oxygen level, heart rhythm, brain activity and movement while your child sleeps in a private room, and a technologist monitors the study throughout the night. In the morning the sensors are removed and you can head home. Our physicians review the study, and our team will follow up with you about the results.
A parent or guardian stays with your child for the whole night. Having a familiar person close by helps children feel safe and settle into sleep.
Our team will share any additional instructions when your study is scheduled.
A referral is not required. We accept most major insurance plans. Some plans require prior authorization for a sleep study, and our team can help verify your coverage before your visit.
Fill out the request form on our Contact page and our team will contact you to schedule your child’s study, or call 718-684-6393. Physicians can send a referral through our Refer a Patient page.
